As a doctorate level scientist exposed to rural mining and agricultural communities, Azahar seeks to exploit the new era of media with equitable indigenous narratives and vibrant creativity to generate immersive content.
Azahar's current project, "The Eternal Word," illustrates his unique approach to storytelling. In development with WETA Digital, this seven-part live-action VFX saga aims to redefine epic cinema. The series spans three worlds and three holy cities, blending historical narratives with cutting-edge visual effects to create an immersive experience. "The Eternal Word" chronicles the journey of a Djinn, nurtured by Iblis (Satan), who ultimately becomes the Guardian of a revered sacred relic. This saga explores the intricate relationships between humans, Djinn, and angels, in a complex story of love, conflict, and revelation.
Over the years, Azahar’s connections with some of the industry's most influential figures have profoundly shaped his vision. He has collaborated with Barry Osborne, renowned for his work on "The Lord of the Rings," and Peter Jackson, a legendary filmmaker whose projects include "The Hobbit" and "King Kong." Through these collaborations, Azahar has developed a keen understanding of the power of visual storytelling and its potential to convey complex cultural and theological themes.
Azahar has spent over three decades engaging with academics, writers, business leaders, film professionals, and community leaders, focusing on the intersections of theology, history, science and media. His personal academic journey is a mixture of science and entrepreneurship with direct relationships with emerging technologies. He has carried out studies and contributed to projects related to environment, education, media and technology. These include management of hazardous waste, development of a media city, evaluation deployment of technologies that reduce climate impacts and water consumption and educating bottom of the pyramid communities. The specialist knowledge, direct fieldwork, vast travel and dialogue has enriched Azahar with diverse understanding of human needs and aspirations.
